The Royal Melbourne Hospital is a world-class teaching hospital and one of Victoria’s largest Trauma Centres. It provides general, specialist and trauma services and offers an exciting opportunity to further your specialty nursing skills through postgraduate study.



We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Intensive Care Unit team. Permanent and Fixed Term positions are available, working a rotating roster, based at Royal Melbourne Hospital - City Campus.

Your Opportunity:



  • Provide high quality patient care consistent with the Royal Melbourne Hospital ICU standards. 

  • The Intensive Care Unit provides a supportive and exciting learning environment.

  • The current state of the art ICU consists of 42 beds and provides care to over 3000 patients each year, including Cardio-thoracic, Trauma, Neurosurgical, Oncology and Medical-surgical patients.

  • The ICU facility within the Royal Melbourne Hospital provides services to the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer center partners, the Peter MacCallum Hospital and the Women’s hospital across the Parkville precinct.

  • Permanent and fixed term hours are available working a rotating roster of 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts within the Intensive Care Unit at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.


About You:



  • Postgraduate qualification in critical care nursing (ICU)

  • Current ICU Experience in an acute hospital

  • Minimum 2 years post qualification consolidation period

  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills

  • Enthusiastic and organised approach to work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams

  • Demonstrated provision of high quality patient centred care

  • Developed assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritisation skills

  • High level of reliability and professional conduct within the Royal Melbourne Hospital's values

  • Self directed and team oriented professional, incorporating the Melbourne Health values and behaviours.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development towards the nursing profession.
