About the branch

The Commercial Directorate manages Parks Victoria's visitor based, revenue-generating activities at key regional and metropolitan sites across Victoria. It provides the strategies, specialist advice, business processes and systems to efficiently and effectively deliver core support services to enable Parks Victoria to be financially sustainable, high performing, and ensure our activities are aligned with strategic objectives.

The directorate aims to deliver sustainable financial returns through the provision of an enhanced visitor experience across Victoria's parks, to support conservation for the benefit of the Victorian community. By providing a varied suite of visitor experiences and commercial opportunities across the state, the Directorate adds value to Parks Victoria, communities, partners and the State of Victoria.

About the role and your responsibilities:  

As the Customer Service Officer, you will deliver in park services as directed by the Manager to enable efficient and effective delivery of customer services in accordance with the Commercial Operations Plan. You may perform the following tasks: professionally handle bookings, sell cave tickets, cave tours, information requests and ensure that enquiries and issues are resolved promptly and effectively, update databases with contact and enquiry information and process accommodation and camping bookings for the Buchan Caves Reserve. You will evaluate and identify opportunities to drive process improvements that positively impact on the customer experience. You will work in a retail environment and will be responsible for reliably managing monetary transactions and administration tasks in accordance with Parks Victoria procedures. You will have a knowledge and understanding of Parks in the area they are located and will be receptive to the customer's needs.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • Certificate or Diploma in tourism, business and/or equivalent experience or qualifications in a similar field.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service and communication, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage.
  • A current employee Working with Children Check and Manual Driver's Licence is required.
