About us

COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV) is responsible for Victoria's COVID-19 Accommodation response, including:

  • Mandatory quarantine for returned overseas travellers
  • Emergency Accommodation for people that cannot safely isolate/quarantine in their accommodation.

The Victorian Chief Health Officer has mandated that all returning overseas travellers arriving in Victoria must go into mandatory quarantine for 14 days from the day of their arrival to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition, CQV is responsible for the operation of Victoria's Emergency Accommodation program for community members and their close contacts who have tested positive for COVID-19 and where an assessment has concluded that there are no other suitable alternative accommodation options for self-isolation.

Infection control and prevention is the primary objective of the mandatory quarantine and emergency accommodation programs.

About the role

The Cybersecurity Officer position sits within the Information Communication and Technologies (ICT)  business unit under the Performance and Support Division of COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV) and delivers its services and solutions to all Divisions across CQV.

The purpose of this role is to provide support and guidance for security processes, procedures, and activities in cybersecurity. Support includes security assessments, project assistance, information classification, user education, across the range of cybersecurity functions. It may include organising meetings and workshops, maintaining registers, reviewing documents, and participating in teams as a cybersecurity subject matter expert.

This role also includes:

  • Participate in the assessment of systems, networks, projects, and other technology elements to identify security risks and propose security controls.
  • Provide advice and training to business areas to assist them to understand cybersecurity threats and good practices. Assist in managing expectations of all stakeholders including timely provisioning of critical information.
  • Work with technology and business units in addressing audit issues related to cybersecurity.
  • Investigate minor security breaches in accordance with established procedures (SCAD3). Assist users in defining their access rights and privileges. Performs non-standard security administration tasks and resolves security administration issues.

About you

  • Understand the concept of information security and the cybersecurity threat landscape.
  • Knowledge of the security triad (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability) and identity and access management (digital identity, user access management).
  • Awareness of information asset management and handling, including Information Asset Registers.
  • Proactive in building and sustaining effective relationships with customers to build a common understanding and address their needs.
  • Cooperate effectively with a team and works collaboratively to achieve work plan goals.
