 About the team

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to an enhanced mental health service for children and youth with a serious mental health illness (aged 0 – 25 years) and their families.

The CYMHS Access Team provides the entry point into the service for children, young people, and their families who are generally contacting mental health services for the first time. We also operate the Short Term Assessment & Treatment Clinic which provides up to 6 weeks of brief intervention for young people and their families.

We are seeking a mental health clinician to join our skilled and enthusiastic team, located in vibrant Box Hill.

The Clinician role includes:

  • Providing face to face assessment (for psychiatric crises, diagnostic clarity or treatment planning) and short term intervention for young people and their families

  • Managing and prioritising referrals for the CYMHS community and specialist teams

  • Telephone and face-to-face assessments of young people presenting with acute and/or complex mental health concerns

  • Developing skill  in providing Primary and Secondary consultations to other service provider
