Deputy Chief Communications Officer – Transport Operations

  • Annual Salary Range: $192,800 - $249,700 excluding superannuation
  • Tenure: Ongoing

  • Usual Work Location: Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)

About the Opportunity

The role works closely with the Chief Communications Officer and Transport Services Executive and is primarily focused on delivering a daily program of communications and engagement that helps Victorians make their way around our vast transport network on a daily basis as Victoria recovers from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic during a time of major investment and disruption. 

The duties involved will cover the following - 

  • Providing high level strategic advice to the CCO, Secretary, Ministers and Senior Leadership members on key transport services issues, policy matters, and implementation priorities related to transport objectives
  • Working collaboratively with the Senior Leadership group to support the strategic planning process; effective operation of the department etc
  • Providing executive management of business and workforce planning, governance, budgets, finances, procurement and expenditure
  • Engaging with key internal and external stakeholders and lead collaborative partnerships across the transport portfolio and the Victorian Public Sector
  • Participating in a range of committees, key forums, and working groups
  • Leading projects, undertake research and manage discreet work assignments, including the provision of regular progress reports to the Secretary and senior stakeholders
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of high-quality analysis, complex reports, commercial papers, brief submissions and procurement documentation for key programs of work.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of internal reform and change initiatives

About You

  • Experience working in a fast paced, highly pressured environment
  • Possess extensive experience providing high level strategic, tactical and operational advice
  • Have extensive leadership and management experience including the management of staff through complex and challenging environments
  • Experience as a key contributor in the development of organisation strategy and business planning processes.
  • Have experience managing the development and management of workforce, budgets, finances, and expenditure.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively identify and assess emerging issues
  • Previous achievements providing pivotal recommendations to senior management
  • Possess representational, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to lead cross-portfolio teams and work with staff at different levels across organisations to deliver concise, authoritative, high quality written material.
  • Experience as a key contributor to strategic change and reform initiatives
