About COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria

COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV) is responsible for Victoria's COVID-19 accommodation response, including quarantine for returned overseas travellers and emergency accommodation for people unable to safely isolate in their homes.

Infection prevention and control is our primary objective and is supported by a proud and committed workforce across frontline operations and corporate functions. Together, we work hard to keep Victorian's safe during this global pandemic.

About The Role

As an essential member of CQV's Senior Executive, the Deputy State Controller, Operations is responsible for overseeing the effective organisation, delivery and leadership of CQV's quarantine and compliance program. Reporting directly to our Commissioner and working closely with relevant Ministers, you will be expected to provide high quality, authoritative and strategic advice on current and emerging issues across the program, mitigating risks and implications for the Department.

Other key day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, motivate and support a team of Executive Directors and their reports, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of operational services
  • Lead specialist portfolio initiatives or programs, particularly government responses to specialised quarantine arrangements in relation to CQV
  • Provide significant contribution to CQV's decision making, ensuring effective governance and compliance with overall government strategic direction and policy
  • Develop, build and maintain strong relationships with other government agencies and stakeholders to facilitate collaborative approaches for achieving government objectives

About You

This is an operationally critical role within a dynamic, constantly changing environment, it is anticipated the successful candidate will offer:

  • High level skills in government or other relevant policy and procedural development, strategy, program and service delivery and the ability to develop innovative programs and responses to provide a sound basis for best practice services in Victoria.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including strategic writing for influence, relationship management and negotiation skills at a senior executive level
  • Exemplary leadership skills, particularly in coaching, developing and mentoring multi-disciplined teams to achieve high quality outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in being able to successfully perform and achieve results in a fast paced, high pressure environment
