About the team

The Precincts Group is one of the oldest teams within DV having evolved from the Docklands Authority over 20 years ago. Over this time the group has consistently delivered commercial and policy outcomes for the State and the communities in and around our renewal precincts. 

Development Victoria staff are skilled in realising opportunities and managing risks to develop an industry leading innovative approach to land and specialise in unlocking and delivering complex projects.

Operating at a precinct scale, Development Victoria’s current projects include the redevelopment of Arden to accompany the Metro development; the continued rejuvenation of Docklands, which is expanding Melbourne’s CBD; and the comprehensive refresh of the Fishermans Bend.

This role of Development Director will be focused on the continued development of Arden, together with RCD/Wodonga. Directing and leading a team of development professionals to effectively execute development strategies and deliver outcomes in line with organizational and government objectives.

Desired Skills and Experience

This will require:

  • managing negotiations on project outcomes with development partners, contractors and Government agencies.
  • working with a broad range of stakeholders to deliver bespoke precinct outcomes with the right balance between policy and commercial drivers.   
  • strategic and commercial management of the team, in line with organisational goals and objectives and government policy.
  • managing internal and external project inputs including, the planning, design and financial outcomes for allocated projects.

Key accountabilities would include;

  • Lead, manage and inspire a multi-disciplinary team, including management of performance, learning and development opportunities.
  • oversees the preparation, implementation, monitoring and review of detailed development programs for allocated projects
  • collaboratively develop strategies for value creation and capture, economic development, placemaking, governance and community engagement for divisional projects, and lead project teams implementing these strategies.
  • Provides input into Board Papers, Investment Committee Papers, Risk Reports, Corporate Plan, Annual Reports, Possible Parliamentary Questions, Ministerial Briefs and other corporate documentation as required. 
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders through proactive and collaborative approaches.

About you:

Your tertiary qualifications in a property, valuations and/or construction related fields are complemented by extensive experience leading teams of diverse professionals to engage key stakeholders with divergent interests in the pursuit of achieving complex, high quality property development outcomes.  You will have significant experience in the effective strategic planning and implementation of precinct renewal projects involving innovative initiatives, together with technical experience in high-rise mix-used property development, infrastructure, and commercial environments, in private and ideally public sectors.
