About our Diabetes Services at Monash Health

The role of the Diabetes Nurse Educator (DNE) is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team to support the ongoing care of patients within the Emergency Department, Inpatient and Subacute Wards.  With the recent commissioning of the Casey ICU has resulted in patients with DKA now being provided treatment at Casey Hospital.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Diabetes Educator to join our team.   

About the role and you

The DNE is an active member of the multidisciplinary team providing consultation and advice pertinent to client centred care. Participation in team projects and continuous quality improvement activities are also ongoing components of the role. The service models are underpinned by encouraging clients’ self-management of their condition and within a social model of health.

This is a permanent position with 80 hours per fortnight available to fill; it can be appointed on a full time or part time basis.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic, innovative and flexible Diabetes Educator, treating clients with a variety of conditions in individual or group settings.  Possessing strong organisational, delegation and communication skills, you will have the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

What You Need:

  • Postgraduate Certificate of Diabetes Education (Australian Diabetes Education Association accredited) - essential

  • Significant demonstrated experience in Diabetes education

  • Current AHPRA registration

  • Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) Credentialed Diabetes Educator

  • Australian working rights

  • Willingness to take on a portfolio or portfolios contributing toward quality improvements and National Standards
