About us

The Portable Long Service Authority is an independent statutory body established to administer the Long Service Benefits Portability Act 2018.  The Act, together with the Long Service Benefits Portability Regulations 2020 provide a Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme. 

The Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme began on 1 July 2019 to ensure eligible workers in the community services, contract cleaning and security industries can build up long service benefits based on time in their industry, rather than with a single employer.

About the role

The Digital Communications Officer is integral in supporting the delivery of the Portable Long Service Authority communications and engagement initiatives including the digital presence.

Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Manager and working closely with the Media and Communications Adviser, this role will create compelling digital content to ensure Authority messaging reaches key audiences and stakeholders to encourage engagement. With strong organisational, writing, editing and oral presentation skills this role will prepare engaging and plain English content on complex issues that resonates with audiences.

As part of the Corporate Governance, Communications and Education Division, the Digital Communications Officer is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of digital communications plans, aligning with the communications and engagement strategy.

Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts, this role will monitor, maintain and evaluate our digital presence and is be responsible for managing our suite of digital assets to ensure brand integrity and consistency.

The role also actively participates in a broad range of communication tasks, events and activities to support the delivery of the Division's work. Some ad hoc after-hours work may be required.

About you

As the Digital Communications Officer, you will have:

  • Experience and strong understanding of multiple digital and social media platforms and content management systems, video production and editing and developing and optimising digital content.
  • Project planning experience including content planning and scheduling software, data analysis, monitoring and reporting skills.
  • Strong writing, editing and oral presentation skills with attention to detail and the ability to proactively prepare engaging and plain English content on complex issues that resonates with audiences.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders and ability to understand their priorities and interests.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise competing demands and deadlines, with an ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • The ability to work well with others in the pursuit of team goals; collaborate and share information, knowledge and experience; show consideration, concern and respect for others' contributions and ideas.
