An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Clinical Haematologist to join our team as the Director, Clinical Haematology.

The Clinical Haematology Department, in the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre at Austin Health, provides a broad range of care to  inpatients and outpatients with malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders. Apheresis and both autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation are key specialist features of the service.  

Details of position 

  • Hours per week: 40 hours per week

  • Employment Status:  Permanent Full-time

  • Appointment Period: Commencing November 2022, 5 year appointment initially.

To be successful for this role you must: 

  • Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Recognised as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent

  • Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Clinical Haematology. Sub-specialty interests strongly encouraged.

  • Demonstrated commitment to high quality patient care

  • Demonstrated capability, commitment and clinical leadership

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and mentoring of other staff

  • Demonstrated understanding of the model of delivery of a clinical haematology service

  • Demonstrated commitment and ongoing activity in research and/or clinical audit activities.

  • Involvement in teaching and training of medical, technical and nursing staff, including at undergraduate and post-graduate level.
