About us

COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV) is responsible for Victoria's COVID-19 Accommodation response, including:

  • Mandatory quarantine for returned overseas travellers
  • Emergency Accommodation for people that cannot safely isolate/quarantine in their accommodation.

The Victorian Chief Health Officer has mandated that all returning overseas travellers arriving in Victoria must go into mandatory quarantine for 14 days from the day of their arrival to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition, CQV is responsible for the operation of Victoria's Emergency Accommodation program for community members and their close contacts who have tested positive for COVID-19 and where an assessment has concluded that there are no other suitable alternative accommodation options for self-isolation.

Infection control and prevention is the primary objective of the mandatory quarantine and emergency accommodation programs.

About the role

The role of the Director, Hotel Services, reports to the Executive Director, Hotel Services, and is responsible for managing an extensive and significant program of work, including providing leadership to Hotel Services, General Managers and senior management through provision of technical oversight and advice relating to the operations of the quarantine hotels in Victoria.

The Director, Hotel Services will work closely with the General Managers, Hotel Services to address issues relating to the performance of quarantine hotels (including compliance, safety, culture, innovation and achievement of Service Delivery Outcomes). The Director, Hotel Services will also provide high level and strategic advice on the unique and dynamic hotel services environment and will support the future development of effective hotel services operations, particularly hotel quarantine operations across the state.

This role also includes:

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in the delivery of hotel services operations, including the delivery of quality outcomes and the development and negotiation of significant and important compliance procedures
  • Responsible for the oversight and management of a program of work, undertaking complex reviews and investigations across the quarantine hotel environments and negotiate with General Manager, Hotel Services to reach agreed solutions that support improved performance across hotel services operations.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • A proven record and high level of skills in government or other relevant policy development, strategy, program and service delivery and the ability to develop innovative programs and responses to provide a sound basis for best practice services in Victoria.
  • Recognised knowledge, specialist expertise and a record of achievement at a state-wide or national level in custodial or relevant operations, methodologies or the implementation of Government policy.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of the full range of Microsoft Windows and MS Office application suite software.
  • A relevant tertiary education, qualification or equivalent is highly desirable.
