About the business unit

Justice Services is responsible for coordinating frontline operations across has four Areas (North-West metropolitan Area, South Area, West Area and North Area) and seven regions (North-West metropolitan; Barwon South West; Grampians; SE metropolitan; Gippsland; Loddon Mallee; and Hume). Across the Community Correctional System (CCS) there are up to 12,000 clients on Community Corrections Orders (including sex offenders, adults and young people in the community) and around 900 people on parole being managed across 35 Justice Services Centres


About the role

The Director, Justice Services role leads the delivery of effective Justice Services in an Area, providing executive leadership in responding to community needs, management of risk and delivery of social and human services reforms. It is expected that Directors are able to work across the different Areas and regions of Justice Services as required.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Provide leadership to the CCS and YJ General Managers in operating modern correctional and youth justice services.
  • Engage with key community groups and stakeholders.
  • Identify and drive operational efficiencies across CCS and YJ.
  • Lead, motivate and manage a diverse multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of CCS and YJ operations, and ensure their effective participation in ‘end to end' case management.
  • Develop effective mechanisms to ensure compliance with and achievement of budget and output measures.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated expertise in leading the delivery of modern correctional services facilities and their effective participation in ‘end to end' case management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the key issues impacting the management and delivery of public services and a track record in the provision of clear high-level advice on complex issues.
