An exciting opportunity exists for a Director of Procurement within our Strategic Sourcing group in the Department of Treasury and Finance.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Director of Procurement within our Strategic Sourcing group in the Department of Treasury and Finance.   This role provides a unique opportunity to help drive a significant reform within a whole of government procurement solutions function to achieve the best value for the Victorian Government and our community.

 

About the role

We are seeking a Director of Procurement (SES 1).  The key accountabilities are:

  • Lead and inspire a team of professionals, create a positive workplace culture, and develop capability and team performance
  • Coach and manage staff with management responsibilities to be effective leaders, people managers and role models, and build a constructive culture and work environment
  • Lead a portfolio-based category management and/or sourcing function and deliver business strategy
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations to achieve value for money outcomes
  • Develop strategic and influential relationships across the public sector and proactively manage relationships with external stakeholders
  • Participate in committees and forums as part of ensuring DTF is a well governed and functioning organisation

 

To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate the following:

  • An ability to lead and inspire a large team of professionals and develop capability
  • Experience leading a portfolio-based sourcing and category management function, and delivering business strategy in a complex and large-scale organisational environment
  • An ability to lead complex commercial negotiations to achieve value for money outcomes
  • A record of achievement in the provision of strategic procurement options advice to a Board or senior management
  • An ability to communicate complex issues, build productive relationships with stakeholders and influence outcomes
