VICTORIAN SCHOOL BUILDING AUTHORITY The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) has been created by the Victorian Government to manage a very ambitious suite of infrastructure projects with a value of over $10 billion. The VSBA remains within the Department and is focused on high quality and timely project delivery, with over 1,000 building projects across the State, as well as innovative reform in infrastructure design and delivery, and increased engagement with school communities. The VSBA was established in 2016 and is contributing to the delivery of the Government's Education State where every child has access to a great local school. The Government expects the delivery of high quality infrastructure on time and budget, accountability, a high standard of reporting, a significant increase in the engagement with local communities and improved public communications.

The Authority is responsible for:

  • Providing expert advice to the Minister, Department, schools and other Government agencies on school facilities
  • Ensuring a strong, public identity and  building community engagement in line with the aspirational focus of the Education State, especially the ‘empowering communities and building school pride' target.
  • Developing and managing policies, standards and programs to ensure school facilities are contemporary, sustainable and safe
  • Planning to ensure there is sufficient capacity in the school system for current and future enrolments
  • Overseeing delivery of the annual capital works program for new schools and modernisation of existing school facilities
  • Managing contracts for the delivery of services in schools, i.e. capital works program, compliance programs

Managing key data sets of the portfolio; assets, expenditure and processes to meet reporting requirements and portfolio analysis to inform policy and standards development
