The Digital Twin Victoria (DTV) team are on the look-out for talented, passionate people to join our growing team. Over the next three years DTV will be building the most comprehensive collection of rich, 3D spatial data ever assembled for Victoria. 

This exciting new role will play a critical role in the programs' success by working across two program workstreams - Workstream 6 - Digital Twin Utilities and Workstream 2 - Enhanced Disaster Response. You will be responsible for the technical development, delivery and support of DTV's spatial data services. This technical role will work alongside a diverse group of government and industry stakeholders to collate and prepare spatial and a-spatial data received from stakeholders for inclusion into DTV and foundational Vicmap data products.

Reporting to the Digital Twin Victoria Utilities Lead, you will be responsible for: 

  • Playing an important role in helping the State of Victoria leverage digital data and technology to transform major project delivery and improve crisis response by leading the design, build, implementation and maintenance of tools required to receive, load, assure, describe, secure, publish and deliver spatial data.
  • Delivering service improvement projects that provide efficiencies in the supply and storage process, more customer-centric product data design and models, and more innovative and robust Vicmap data delivery mechanisms.
  • Providing advice and input in relation to analysis, technical design options, best practice usage, performance optimisation and risk management relating to digital twin data management, services and system design.
  • Provide technical expertise and practical advice on the potential impacts of new and emerging spatial technologies and disrupter projects that may influence the current suite and strategic roadmaps of DTV data products and services
  • Closely managing relationships with key stakeholders from across government and industry including Vicmap, Major Transport Infrastructure Authority, utilities agencies and local government to ensure projects align with and leverage work already underway.
  • Providing a customer-centric approach to technical support including advanced user support as required and the resolution of incidents and service requests within agreed service levels.
  • Complying with DELWP and/or WoVG policies, processes and procedures for software development and data management as required. Understanding industry trends and how they may be applied to benefit the portfolio of core spatial data services.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in geospatial sciences or computer sciences or equivalent professional experience is required
  • Experience in the management of spatial data and any of the following technologies is desirable: FME, ArcGIS, geospatial programming languages.
  • Basic familiarity with the principles of design thinking, and/or lean and agile software delivery is highly desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2024.
