  • Full Time 2 year contract - based at Sunshine Hospital

  • Key leadership role with Health Service Partnership team

  • Improving elective surgery access and outcomes

The Opportunity

Achieving better outcomes for patients through improvements to elective surgery is one of four system-wide priorities for West Metro Health Service Partnerships (HSP). As part of this priority, all Health Service Partnerships in Victoria will be developing a plan for improving elective surgery access and outcomes for their communities.  West Metro HSP is seeking a Project Lead to support and coordinate this improvement work over a 24 month period.

The West Metro HSP comprises: The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Western Health, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women’s Hospital, the Royal Children’s Hospital, Mercy Hospitals Victoria, Djerriwarrh Health Service and North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network.  The HSP members deliver services in areas such as home-based care, virtual care and will deliver equitable access to elective surgery as well as deferred care such as cancer care resulting from the impact of the pandemic.

Key Accountabilities

Reporting to the Executive Director – West Metro HSP, you will collaborate with executives and senior surgical staff from partnership health services in developing and implementing a reform program. The Partnership’s reform approach will align with the Department of Health’s key improvement priorities and will be supported by a Steering Committee of senior stakeholders across our services.

In the first instance there will be three key priorities:

  • Helping patients recover faster through international best practice care models

  • Fast track re-assessment of long-waiting patients

  • Expanding non-surgical models of care.

Essential Experience

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification and experience in a health-related discipline

  • Considerable understanding of and experience working in the acute hospital sector

  • Evidence of a commitment to the improvement of services for patients, their families and carers

  • Demonstrated experience in project management and administration

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks with a minimum of supervision

  • Demonstrated high level analytical, oral and written communication, interpersonal and consultation skills

  • High level proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Highly Desirable

  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of projects

  • Current knowledge of contemporary health system and DH policy directions, professional and practice issues

Our Commitment to you

The RMH is proud to be a workplace that champions diversity, inclusion and equality for our staff and our community.  Our goal is for our people to feel safe, included and supported so that they can be at their best every single day. We encourage talented people from all backgrounds, abilities and identities to apply to our vacancies, and will consider adjustments to support such applications.
