Bass Coast Health is seeking to attract Accredited Registrars who are keen to provide contemporary emergency care to the Gippsland South Coast community.  There are opportunities at both the Emergency Department (ED) at Wonthaggi Hospital and the linked Urgent Care Centre in Cowes, Phillip Island.

If you align with our Vision and Values, and would like to pursue employment in a community where sun, sand, surf and a positive lifestyle await, this is the job for you!  Bass Coast Health is located in some of the most beautiful coast line of Victoria, situated an easy 90minute drive south east of Melbourne.  This is a growing Health Service which is designated as a sub-regional service and has just received $115 million from government to build a vibrant and significantly expanded Emergency Department.

The emergency department has annual presentations of around 17,000, with 20% being paediatric and an overall admission rate of approximately 25%. The Emergency department transfers about 10 critical care patients a month for a variety of diagnoses including acute neurosurgical, cardiological, toxicological or trauma related conditions. The Urgent Care Centre sees approximately 10,000 patients annually, predominantly with lower acuity conditions. Admission to Wonthaggi hospital is solely for low acuity medical patients. The addition of a close observation unit at Wonthaggi supported by the Alfred hospital intensive care team, later this year, will increase our capability significantly.

This role would be expected to be available to work from both sites on a 24 hour roster.

Applicants should have a primary medical qualification registered, current registrar with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, where relevant membership with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and experience appropriate for a hands-on role in a busy little Emergency Department.
