Work location: Melbourne | Southern Metropolitan

Acknowledging the vital role they play in providing healthcare to our community, Monash Health proudly supports the WHO 2021 International Year of Health and Care Workers.

About Us

Monash Health is Victoria’s largest public health service.  As part of Victoria’s COVID-19 response, we are responsible for coordinating immunisation across south-eastern Melbourne, managed by the South East Public Health Unit (SEPHU).

We have established vaccination clinics at four of our key sites and we are now looking to recruit a number of Emergency Immuniser Workers to support the immunisation of the COVID-19 vaccine.  We anticipate that as the requirements for immunisation change, further clinics may be established throughout the catchment area.  Clinics are open seven days per week and these roles can be appointed on either a casual or fixed term contract basis.

About the Role

As part of our Immunisation workforce, you will work under the direction and supervision of a Team Leader/Primary Immuniser, assisting in the delivery of COVID-19 Vaccines as part of the Government’s COVID-19 Vaccine and Treatment Strategy.  Your primary responsibility will be for providing immunisations safely and accurately.  It is likely that you will rotate through a range of roles in the clinic throughout a shift, including:

  • Administration of the immunisation;

  • Preparation of vaccine doses;

  • Concierge to assist in clinic flow;

  • Accurately entering vaccination details into relevant systems; and

  • Observing people post immunisation.

About You/what You need

Under the Public Health Emergency Orders (PHEO) a range of health professions have been authorised to participate in the COVID-19 vaccine program.  Applications are welcomed from interested people who are:

  • Qualified Paramedics;

  • Aboriginal Health Practitioners;

  • Medical Students; or

  • Paramedicine students.

You will also need to have Australian working rights.

If your application is successful, you will need to complete the mandatory State and Commonwealth training to enable you to deliver immunisations safely:

  • Commonwealth COVID-19 Vaccination Training Program

  • Victorian COVID-19 e-Learning Competency

  • Victorian COVID-19 AstraZeneca Supplementary e-Learning

What we offer

This is a great opportunity to participate in a large scale initiative to ensure the safety of our community.  In addition, you will have access to benefits including salary packaging to increase your take-home pay and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
