Emergency Mental Health Clinician

Northern Area Mental Health Service (NAMHS)

• Part time position until January 2023


• Based at our Northern Hospital, Epping


• Exciting opportunity to join a thriving Emergency Department dedicated to providing the highest standard of mental health care

This is a multidisciplinary role and is open to Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Socail Workers, Occupational Therapists and Psychologists

• The Northern Hospital, Epping, is a major community hospital with a busy Emergency Department serving the northern suburbs of Melbourne.


• The Emergency Mental Health team is an integral part of the ED, making up a multidisciplinary supportive team environment dedicated to supporting consumers with complex mental health related needs.


• Our team of specialist clinicians want you to join them in providing innovative, recovery focused care to those people who present to the Emergency Department experiencing a mental health crisis.

Your New Role:

• Provide a high level of clinical expertise for consumers with complex mental health related needs and of their family/carers


• Perform assessments, consultation and consider management plans for consumers


• Support other clinicians in the delivery of high quality mental health care


• Assist ED staff in identifying, assessing and managing people who are at risk of self-harm or are experiencing a mental illness 

About you:

• Demonstrated experience working in a variety of clinical mental health settings


• High level of skills and knowledge in conducting mental health consultation and risk assessments.


• Demonstrated experience contributing to a cohesive multidisciplinary team.


• High level of verbal and written communication skills


• Ability to develop management plans and comprehensive care formulations for mental health consumers.
