The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking two Executive Administration Officers to provide a critical role in the Office of the Special Investigator.

 

About the business unit

The Office of the Special Investigator (OSI) has been established as an independent statutory body to respond to the recommendations of the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants (Commission).

The Commission recommended the Victorian Government legislate to establish a Special Investigator to investigate whether there is sufficient evidence to establish the commission of a criminal offence or offences connected with Victoria Police's use of Nicola Maree Gobbo as a human source.

The Commission also recommended the Special Investigator be responsible for investigating whether there is sufficient evidence to charge any current Victoria Police officers with breaches of discipline connected with Victoria Police's use of Ms Gobbo as a human source. The OSI is also responsible for administering the Special Investigator Act 2021.

 

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Administration Support Officer will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, organisational awareness, strong organising and planning skills, and attention to detail.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Plan, organise and coordinate the administration activities and responsibilities for the OSI Executive functions.
  • Providing high level and confidential support including calendar management and coordinating travel arrangements, as well as various administrative support tasks as the need arises.
  • Oversee and maintain administrative practices, systems and procedures to optimise efficiency/continuous improvement and support the achievement of quality outcomes, including utilising technology to drive an organised and coordinated approach to OSI business.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge of public administration systems, policies and procedures.
  • Proven experience in similar roles in public sector environment, investigations and criminal justice system experience would be well regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience producing written products to a high standard, proven verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain calmness under pressure whilst overseeing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate confidently with senior legal, government and ministerial staff.
