About the position

Ambulance Victoria is currently seeking a suitably experienced senior leader in the position of Executive Director, Communications and Engagement.

A key member of the Executive and working closely with the Chief Executive, this position will provide a high level of leadership and direction to AV's overall approach to both internal and external communications and engagement to enable a consistent and proactive approach to the way we listen, align, and communicate across AV and beyond.

With an ability to provide specialised direction, leadership, storytelling, and expert senior advice in areas of communications, employee engagement, external relations and change management, this position will be critical to –

  • Overall leadership and accountability of the Internal Communications, Government Relations, Publications, Media/Public Relations, and Digital Marketing business units
  • Effective and consistent engagement, and communication with our people, both day-to-day and during periods of transformation, across all communication and engagement mediums
  • Development and continued improvement of strategic and integrated internal and external communications and engagement strategies and objectives to enable a proactive approach in predicting and preparing for the impact of events whilst working to build the profile of AV
  • Leading and contributing to a safe, lawful, and respectful workplace culture through the modelling of ethical and positive behaviours consistent with the AV values

About you

Suited to a highly motivated and strategic senior leader, the successful applicant will possess –

  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline (communications, public relations) or a relevant combination of experience and training
  • Broad experience at a senior management level, preferably in a complex organisation within sectors such as government, health services or similar   
  • Contemporary working knowledge of strategic communications and engagement with extensive internal and external communications and change management experience  
  • Demonstrated success in delivery of all-encompassing communication and engagement strategies
  • A high level of communication with an ability to build and maintain relationships and influence, negotiate, and generate buy-in with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external
  • A coaching, mentoring and leadership approach to motivate, encourage, and support teams to success

This position will be a 3-year fixed-term position. Hybrid working options are available however it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Doncaster Headquarters.
