About Monash Health

Monash Health is Victoria’s largest public health service. We provide safe, high-quality care to one-quarter of Melbourne’s population, across the entire lifespan, from pre-birth to end-of-life.

More than 18,000 of us work at over 40 care locations across south-east Melbourne, including seven hospitals and an extensive network of rehabilitation, aged care, community health and mental health facilities.

The Transitional Support Unit’s purpose is to improve the mental health outcomes and recovery of people with an intellectual disability or an ABI, and mental health illness by providing therapeutic, support and recovery focused residential rehabilitation for a staged progression into the community for those aged 18 years and over. The TSU operates on a model of least restrictive care, including reduction in the role of chemical restraint in addressing behaviours of concern.  The TSU incorporates a co-design approach in the delivery of activities of daily living, with clients working in partnership with the MDT in designing relevant activities (i.e. groups) and be consistent with each client’s behavioural support plan.

We currently have a position for an Exercise Physiologist Grade 3 (EP71-EP74) at the TSU. Exercise Physiologists can work across the Adult Mental Health Service.  The Grade 3 Exercise Physiologist is responsible for working within the TSU to provide best practice patient care, achieve maximal operational effectiveness, develop organisational competencies, and create strong partnerships within and outside Monash Health. This position is based within the TSU however work at and travel to any of the Monash Health sites will be required. Exercise Physiology aims to facilitate the improvement of mental state and quality of life of consumers, maintaining their independence in the community wherever possible. Exercise Physiology seeks to achieve this through assessment, emphasis on functional status, and the utilisation of compensatory as well as rehabilitative methods, to achieve functional gains in independence. This approach is crucial as functional performance levels determine community independence options.
