West Gippsland Healthcare Group are seeking expressions of interest from overseas Nurses and Midwives who are keen to move to, work and live in Australia when future vacancies arise. As a Nurse or Midwife at West Gippsland Healthcare Group, you will work within a highly enthusiastic, innovative and collaborative team that are dedicated to prioritising and escalating care of patients of all ages and cultural groups. Our Nurses and Midwives require assessment and problem-solving skills to meet the demands of a changing day to day business and are available to work on a rotating, flexible roster including morning, afternoon and night shifts. Our Nurses work in a range of areas including but not limited to:

  • Aged care
  • District nursing
  • Emergency
  • Medical
  • Operating suites
  • Surgical and paediatric

Our preferred applicants will have:

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing and/or Midwifery
  • Eligibility of membership with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Ability to work under pressure, be flexible and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrated written, verbal and computer skills at the level required to fulfil the role 
  • Demonstrated sound level of nursing/midwifery skills and works within safe practice principles

Getting registered as a nurse in Australia

  • You must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia to work as a Nurse or Midwife in Australia.
  • Depending on where you completed your qualifications, the process to become registered can be quick (such as for nurses from New Zealand) or may take a bit longer.

IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare sector are required to have three doses of a COVID-19 vaccination and 2023 Influenza vaccination (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.

All employees must hold current entitlement to work within Australia. A six month probationary period applies to all new appointments.
