Coordinator, Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness (FaPMI)

The Austin Health Mental Health Division is seeking applications from highly experienced Senior Mental Health Clinicians for the above position.  The role coordinates service development within the North East catchment area to build capacity of the services to respond effectively to the families of the consumers.  This is done through workforce training and resource development, policy and procedure development, group development, implementation and evaluation, community education and strengthening partnerships between the sectors.


The position is full-time, Monday to Friday.


The objectives of this position are to:



  • Increase the capacity of the adult Area Mental Health Service (AMHS) to provide a family inclusive response to the partentng needs of consumers and the needs of the children

  • Increase the capacity of the adult AMHS network partners to recognise and respond appropriately to parental mental illness

  • Establish and strengthen service networks in partnership with consumers and carers to provide a coordinated and collaborative response to the needs of families where a parent has a mental illness.


The successful applicant will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.  A demonstrated experience in, and knowledge of, the adult, child and youth mental health field and associated health and welfare services if vital.


Applicants will be Registered Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists or Social Workers who hold registration with relevant professional bodies with qualifications and experience in the Mental Health field.  A current driver's licence and Working With Children's check are also necessary.
