The position of Agriculture Services – Farm Emissions Specialist forms a part of the Biosecurity and Agriculture Services branch within the Agriculture Victoria group.

Agriculture Victoria works with industry and community stakeholders to support the agriculture, food and fibre sector to become more globally competitive, innovative and resilient.

The Farm Emissions Specialist, located in the Agriculture Services Unit, will work across Agriculture Victoria to lead a state-wide program to support the Victorian Government's commitment towards a net zero emissions economy.

The role will be focused on developing and delivering specialised services to assist the agricultural sector to understand, measure, manage and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience working with farmers, with excellent understanding of greenhouse emissions accounting at the farm level. They will have skills and experience with agriculture production economic principles, farm business planning and the delivery of successful practice change programs. They will be experienced at interacting with farm businesses and the advisory sector and bring a deep understanding of the issues facing the agriculture sector. They will be an effective communicator, team player, have strong people skills and also be experienced at project management.

The Farm Emissions Specialist will lead the design and implementation of an agriculture emissions farm planning services which will support agricultural producers and supply chains to make informed decisions on improving the productivity and profitability of their businesses as they work towards the net zero emissions targets. This will involve working within a multi-disciplinary team and across sectors to communicate the latest farm based emissions accounting and market information, emerging scientific research, and policy developments relating to agriculture emissions management. The Farm Emissions Specialist will also play an important role to support development of the farm emissions advisory sector within Victoria.
