Finance Business Partner – Finance Business Partner Services

 The position of Finance Business Partner- Finance Business Partner Services forms a part of the Investment and Procurement Branch within the Corporate Services Group.

This position is within the Investment and Procurement Group. The group provides strategic advice and professional services into the business and to our Ministers, creating value by improving the performance and sustainability across the DJPR portfolio's in line with its objectives. 

Finance Business Partner Services is responsible for managing all aspects of the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR) budget. This relationship management involves key analysis of complex financial issues for senior management and development and review of cabinet and other funding submissions. The role supports the Executive Director Investment and Procurement and the Executive Board in driving financial management outcomes across the Group, managing risks and identifying opportunities for improved financial performance.

Reporting to the Manager, Finance Business Partner Services, the key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Prepare regular financial reporting, identifying and explaining material risks and opportunities to senior management. Demonstrate a strong level of financial expertise to routinely advise/explain complex concepts, ideas and issues to facilitate decision making.
  • Monitor the integrity of DJPR's budget information in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994, including reconciliation of information in budget systems, forward estimates, and other data held in DTF's SRIMS system.
  • Liaise extensively with groups, portfolio agencies and central agencies in relation to updating and reconciling budgets, forward estimates, outputs and sources of budget funding whilst increasing stakeholders' financial management capability.
  • Work collaboratively, utilising a sound working knowledge of DTF's SRIMS and departmental systems, with portfolio agencies and DTF to ensure that portfolio budget and reporting activities meet quality and timeliness requirements.
  • Critical review of cabinet submissions, funding proposals, briefings, reports and information including those for Cabinet Committees, the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee and State Budget Papers
