About the role

Eastern Health is committed to providing culturally safe care and Closing the Health Gap in outcomes experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians in the Eastern metropolitan region of Melbourne. The First Nations Cultural Safety Project Lead is responsible for reviewing, developing, implementing and evaluating cultural safety at Eastern Health and delivering on the actions from the inaugural Eastern Health Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (2022-2024) (RAP) with organisational support. The work will include project management to meet specific objectives in Eastern Health’s Innovate RAP relating to increasing the understanding, value and recognition of First Nations cultures, histories, knowledge and rights through cultural learning.

The Project Lead will also provide support to the Learning & Teaching team with First Nations focussed activities embedded in inter-professional education.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin
  • Have experience consulting with and engaging with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Be able to demonstrate strong administration skills with report writing
  • Be able to demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement with proven ability to engage, negotiate and positively influence others to achieve outcomes.
  • Be well organised, accountable and have a positive attitude.
  • Have proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications
  • Have an understanding of the health and community sector, in relation to providing services to Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander consumers.
