About Grampians Health

Grampians Health was established 1 November 2021, bringing together Edenhope and District Memorial Hospital, Stawell Regional Health, Wimmera Health Care Group and Ballarat Health Services to deliver safe, sustainable, healthcare tailored to changing workforce and community needs, for the long term.

This partnership follows years of strong collaboration and close partnerships between the four health services. Together, we will deliver better healthcare, enhance services and advance careers, closer to home, now and into the future.

A career with Grampians Health means you are connected and are part of a team providing quality healthcare to rural and regional communities. Our communities are diverse, as is our workforce, with expert clinical staff from across the world choosing to live and work in our beautiful region.

Grampians Health provides acute, maternity, mental health, allied health, aged care, administration and support services.  This means your career will be as diverse and rewarding as you strive to be.

About the role

Grampians Health is currently accepting applications from Neurology Specialists. You will deliver an appropriate level of Neurology Specialist inpatient services consistent with the Grampians Health Strategic and Service Plans. The role will provide flexible additional ward service as well as specialist clinic opportunities. The position will be utilised in the provision of a dynamic, flexible, responsive, accountable and aspirational Neurology Service. One in which all our staff will be proud to participate in.

We are looking to appoint to fractional allocations on each site (negotiable). Applicants should have FRACP qualifications and have finished or are expected to have finished their advanced neurology training by the end of 2023.

The Ballarat neurologists cover acute stroke calls at Grampians Health – Ballarat Hospital during working hours during their ward service. As such, an applicant should have expertise in the management of acute strokes including the ability to interpret acute stroke neuro-imaging, provide stroke thrombolysis when indicated and refer to an endovascular clot retrieval service as necessary. Experience in neurophysiology including the ability to perform nerve conduction studies and electromyography and/or read EEGs would be advantageous, but not essential. Experience in neuroimmunology, movement disorders or other subspecialty areas are viewed favourably.

We are looking for clinicians who will act exemplar in modelling our values of honesty, empathy, respect, mentorship and excellence in the care of their patients, colleagues and trainees.

If the opportunity to participate in the design and representation of Neurology Services at Ballarat Health Services excites you, please submit a CV with a cover letter addressing the key criteria as stated in the position description.
