Selection Criteria


2 x 7.6 hour days per week (negotiable days and start/finish time)

The role entails maintaining the school grounds and gardens as directed. This may include, but is not limited to weeding, pruning, cleaning of litter and other areas as required around the school along with undertaking minor maintenance tasks as identified by staff. These include but are not limited to: handyman tasks, moving furniture when required and maintaining a clean and orderly school environment.



  • To maintain the school grounds by; weeding, pruning, raking, planting and general garden maitenance
  • Cleaning of litter
  • To take a “hands on” role in performing daily maintenance tasks whenever required which will include: removal of graffiti, emergency maintenance that does require a tradesman.
  • To respond to service requests from staff for repairs when feasible
  • To identify, report and advise on maintenance concerns and other issues when identified.
  • To assist with staging of school events as required (eg school concert, sports days, fundraising initiatives) to ensure such matters as equipment and furniture relocation and facilities meet the needs of the school.
  • Undertake other duties relevant to the field of responsibility as requested by members of the Principal Class.
  • Comply with the school’s policies and procedures
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment
