The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a General Manager Corporate Services to provide a critical role in Corporate Services – Loddon Mallee Region.

About the business unit

The Loddon Mallee Region provides services to its three prisons, two within the Loddon Prison Precinct, which includes a medium risk facility (Loddon) and a restricted minimum facility (Middleton). The third prison is located at Maldon, a minimum risk women's facility; Tarrengower Prison.  These services are also provided across the region's Justice Service Centres in Bendigo, Swan Hill and Mildura and at outreach locations across the region, including Castlemaine, Echuca, Maryborough, Kerang, Robinvale, Kyneton and Ouyen.  Regular travel to the prisons and Justice Service Centres will be required.

The region delivers a range of Justice Services including custodial services at our prisons, Community Correctional Services, Sheriff's Operations, Consumer Affairs, Dispute Services, Youth Justice and front of house enquiries (including Births, Deaths and Marriages applications). 

About the role

Reporting to the Director Regional Transformation (CGaS), this role is part of the Loddon Mallee Region executive leadership team, the General Manager Corporate Services role supports the service delivery and responds to the business needs of the Loddon Mallee Region of the Department of Justice and Community Safety.

The main purpose of this role is to provide, manage and deliver an efficient and effective corporate service across the Region, to our Justice Service Centres and prisons. The successful applicant will:

  • lead and manage a Corporate Services team across the region and develop business plans
  • identify and manage complex operational, planning and resource issues
  • strategically manage the region's budget, assets and facilities

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in managing large-scale complex corporate services environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing staff and leading organisational change.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, analyse, and evaluate budgets and financial reports, including the ability to critically evaluate cost drivers, savings and business improvement opportunities.
  • Knowledge of the Victorian Public Service Purchasing Framework, procurement and human resource requirements.
