An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Colorectal/General Surgeon to join our Colorectal Surgery Department.

Details of Department

The Colorectal Unit provides Colorectal services to patients across Austin Health. Emergency and inpatient services are based at the Austin Hospital while Specialist Clinics and Endoscopy are based at both the Austin Hospital and Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital sites. In addition, a consultative service is provided for other units within the health service. The role reports to the Colorectal Head of Unit, Ms Adele Burgess.

  • Hours per week: 7.36 hours

  • Employment Status:  Part-time

  • Appointment Period: Ongoing

  • Additional Notes: Sessions will not be split, please indicate your availability in your application.

To be successful for this role you must:

  • Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Hold a Fellowship of the General Surgery Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeon (FRACS) or equivalent.

  • Have Specialist Colorectal training and hold a current membership to the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CDSSANZ) or equivalent

  • Have appropriate training and experience in the multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with general surgical emergencies and appropriate elective abdominal conditions.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to high quality patient care

  • Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, junior medical, nursing and other clinical staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum, and

  • Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to teaching, training and research.
