General Surgery Senior Registrar/Fellow 2024
Werribee Mercy is recruiting for a General Surgery Senior Registrar/Fellow for 2024 for a 12 month position.
The role involves 12 months in a range of subspeciality general surgery to provide experience and support for future general surgery post-fellowship training applications.
Short Description:
In a public hospital in the Western suburbs of Melbourne, you will attain sub-speciality general surgical skills as a senior registrar/fellow in elective and emergency settings in a supervised environment.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are a public health service 25min drive from the CBD in a growth area of Melbourne. We have a number of consultant general surgeons that will supervise and guide doctors to gain valuable experience and exposure toward future training position applications.
General Surgery is a core specialty at Werribee Mercy Hospital (WMH) with expansion and growth seen in the last few years. The position will assist the General Surgery consultants provide a range of services at WMH including emergency assessment and management, pre and post-operative care, attending operating lists and the outpatient management of patients across a range of emergency and elective general surgery conditions. General surgery includes sub-specialities in Acute General Surgery, Colorectal, Upper Gastrointestinal/Hepatobiliary and Breast/Endocrine and the doctor may be required to help in these roles. One fixed term contract is available – Feb 2024 to Feb 2025
ABOUT YOU: Candidates will be required to have,
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA)
- Applicants must be eligible for registration with AHPRA for positions of up to 12 months from starting date as a surgical registrar
- Prior experience as a general surgery registrar in a senior role
- A high standard of written and verbal communication skills.
- A practical common approach to problem solving & trouble shooting
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
