The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded, community-based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

About the Role:

In this key role you will have responsibility for the oversight of workplace complaints and the related systems and processes across the organisation. Working closely and collaboratively with case managers, you will play both a coaching and educational role, providing guidance and support to ensure the timely, efficient, and effective resolution of all workplace complaints. You will provide input into regular reporting including on agreed performance measures and monitoring and utilising the functionality of a complaints management system with further, detailed responsibilities to be found in the Position Description.

About You:

To succeed in this important position, a highly analytical mind and strong attention to detail are critical and a tertiary qualification in Employment Law, Human Resources or a related discipline is essential.

You may have a legal background, having shifted into an inhouse consulting role or alternatively demonstrable experience in dispute resolution in a large organisation. You will have proven, extensive experience in workplace conflict resolution and negotiation, including a strong understanding of the nuances involved in the management of technical issues, complex behavioural and sensitive investigations.

Further, you will have demonstrated experience in quickly developing and maintaining effective working relationships both internal and external to organisations. Coaching and developing others will come naturally to you and you are adept at providing plain English advice and guidance.

This is a unique opportunity to add immense value and deliver solutions that bring about cultural change and improvement across the organisation.

Note: Consideration will be given to flexible arrangements – i.e. a part time - less than five day per week position.

Your Application:

When applying for a position with CFA, the key to progressing in the selection process is the quality of your application. Your application must demonstrate that you have the qualifications, experience, key attributes and skills required for the position.

Your application should include:

  • Cover letter
  • Resume

Submitting your Application:

When you click the 'apply' button you will be taken to the online application form. Here you will be asked to provide personal and contact details and respond to employment-related questions.

The successful applicant must be willing to complete pre-employment checks including a National Police History Check and Working with Children Check prior to receiving a job offer.

CFA supports flexible working arrangements and is committed to providing an inclusive, fair and child safe working environment for all staff, volunteers and the community.
