Hospital Medical Officer Year 2

Located on the beautiful Great South Coast, South West Healthcare offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and psychiatric services.  The organisation serves a catchment in excess of 110,000 and comprises of a total of 282 beds and an extensive range of primary and community services.

Warrnambool boasts excellent sporting, education (pre-school to university), social and cultural facilities. The city's award winning foreshore promenade is a 5.7km path that stretches from the breakwater along the coastline to the Hopkins River mouth.

About the role

Hospital Medical Officer Year Two (HMO2) applications for South West Healthcare are invited for the 2023 year. The South West Healthcare HMO2 year offers both Rural Generalist (VRGP) and general medical year positions offering experience in terms from the following options: Emergency, Paediatrics, Oncology, Women's Health, General Medicine, General Surgery, Surgical Sub-specialties, Rehabilitation Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Mental Health and relieving.  Rotations to Portland District Health, Portland may also be included.

This HMO2 position is employed as full time (76 hours per fortnight) under the Doctors In Training (Victorian Public Health Sector)(AMA Victoria/ASMOF)(Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2022-2026 at the classification of HM12 – Hospital Medical Officer Year 2 and is available from April 2023 until February 2025.

What you bring

As a HMO2 holding a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) recognised and registered by the Medical Board of Australia, you will have developed experience and skills delivering safe, high quality patient care. You will be committed to working in an interdisciplinary team and ongoing learning and self- development, with an ability to seek advice when necessary.
