About the Role

  • This is a unique opportunity for you to work in the initial development of school processes for a foundation secondary school, growing one year level each year from Year 7 in 2024 to Year 12 in 2029. 
  • Given the school is in the first year of establishment, the teaching, learning and student support practices are based on the latest evidence-based research. The brand-new facilities support 21st century skills and these teaching and learning practices. 
  • You will be supported by education support staff, teachers, and leaders in a highly collaborative workplace, with opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
  • The school has a highly supportive leadership team with a culture of collaboration and innovation. 
  • As a member of the Foundation Staff, you will have input and play a vital role in the implementation of school processes within your area as well as the physical set up of the learning environment.
  • The school site is planned to be completed and access given to school staff from mid-December 2023. Given this timeline, we anticipate some staff of the school will be involved in late January to prepare for the opening of the school on the first day of the 2024 school year (this is by negotiation and not mandatory). 

About you

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled education support staff to contribute to the success of a high achieving secondary school. The ideal candidate should possess a range of characteristics that will contribute to the success of our students and uphold the school's commitment to excellence in education. Education Support Staff will be responsible for delivering support for the school staff and student learning environment.

Role 

It is important to note that in 2024 Brinbeal Secondary College will open with approximately 160-200 Year 7 students and 15-20 staff. 

In the first year of the school's operation the Information Technology Technician role is broad and the role will focus on supporting the implementation of efficient ICT across the college, keeping in mind the schools small enrolment numbers.  

The Information Technology Technician will be flexible, competent, and approachable to all members of the school community. It is expected that they will provide a high level of customer service to the student body, staff and visitors to the College and be competent in the provision of up to date and relevant information.

Adhering to the College's dress code policy and wearing appropriate business casual will be required in the school office. It is important the Information Technology Technician operates in a consistent, professional, courteous, efficient manner at all times. 

The Information Technology Technician supports the Administration team and Classroom Teachers with the day-to-day operations of the College.

Responsibilities

ICT Support Officer:

·       Support members of the school community with respect to their use of ICT in the school

·       Troubleshoot and respond to hardware, software and networking issues across a range of school owned and student BYO devices.

·       Assist in solving common ICT related problems for staff and students on a daily basis.

·       Provide specialist advice to students in relation to the handling and use of ICT materials and equipment.

·       Assist with the provision of ICT service to teachers.

·       TV/ATV maintenance.

·       Liaise with the Specialist Technician as required.

·       Advise teachers about technical components of curriculum implementation using ICT.

·       Provide support to manage the teacher notebook program (returns/allocations/transfer of data support)

·       Provide support to staff, students and parents in password management

·       Support staff with media editing and video/photo projects

·       Assist in the development, testing and execution of ICT disaster recovery and service continuity processes and technologies.

·       Provide technology assistance for school events

·       Undertake regular stocktakes and checking of equipment, maintaining the asset register of disposed/new ICT devices

·       Cleaning, labelling and sorting of IT devices

·       Providing assistance with printing including maintaining papercut software, clearing paper jams, replacement of supplies etc.

·       Initiate, design and develop basic computer systems and undertake routine software design.

·       Implement and manage general and specific software applications.

·       Ensuring the security and integrity of the school's ICT system in line with DET policies and procedures.

·       Develop and implement safety procedures within work and/or teaching areas in accordance with school policy and relevant safety legislation.

·       Undertake other duties relevant to the field of responsibility as requested by the Business Manager or Principal
