About CSSD:

The Austin Health Central Sterilizing Services Department (CSSD) engages in all aspects of decontamination, packaging, sterilizing and storage of re-usable medical devices. We are located across two sites, the Austin Hospital and the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital.

A regular day in this role will see you:

  • Clean, disinfect and sterilize reusable medical and surgical instruments and equipment
  • Ensure that sterile supplies are stored and handled correctly
  • Communicate with relevant staff when equipment is faulty

The successful candidates will: 

  • Have a Certificate IV or III in Sterilising Services and experience as an Instrument Technician in a hospital setting
  • Have current knowledge of sterilisation techniques 
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Be highly organised and motivated with the ability to multitask in a busy workplace
  • Have ability to prioritise and a high attention to detail
  • Be team orientated 
  • Be able to work shift work including night shifts
