ABOUT THE ROLE:
Opened in August 2018 and located on Level 2 in the Catherine McAuley Centre at Werribee Mercy Hospital, the Central Sterilising Department (CSD) offers a modern working environment, views of Werribee and its surrounds and a friendly team of Instrument Technicians keen for you to join the team. The department supports the current needs of the hospital, including 6 Operating Rooms, and is well placed to meet the demands of future growth.

Summary of the role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Instrument Technician with strong management & clinical leadership skills.

A full time position, based on a predominately Monday - Friday roster.
Working closely with and supported by, the Perioperative Service Manager, the applicant will be responsible for providing supervision & leadership, maintenance of the working environment and associated medical equipment, ensuring staff follow principles of standard precautions, strict application of recommended Infection Control & Prevention guidelines, including requirements of AS/NZS 4187:2014.
Additional duties will include, but are not limited to; roster development, staff supervision, education and annual performance development, including staff competencies.

ABOUT YOU:

• Certificate III & IV in Health - Sterilising Practice for Technicians or equivalent is essential
• Certificate IV in Supervision (or working towards) is essential
• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or working toward) is highly desirable
• Extensive knowledge of AS/NZS 4187 & Infection Prevention principles pertaining to the reprocessing of reusable medical devices is essential
• Clinical practice and experience in all areas of cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation within a hospital CSD is essential
• Knowledge & experience in reprocessing of flexible endoscopes highly desirable.
• Effective and appropriate patterns of communication within a multidisciplinary team; accurate documentation pertaining to disinfection and sterilisation of reusable medical instruments.
• Previous or current experience in supervisory role or senior instrument technician position.
