About the role

Coliban Water currently has an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation Technical Officer. Reporting to the SCADA Coordinator this position will focus on field installation, maintenance and management of remote sensing equipment to monitor the performance of our water, wastewater and recycled water networks. 

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Installation of field hardware to monitor the performance of a range of different assets.
  • Understand current WAN communication system capabilities and limitations
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies to ensure Coliban Water leverages advances in technology.
  • Develop planned maintenance programs to improve the reliability of remote sensing devices
  • Develop automated methods of assessing field asset performance to detect faults
  • Manage operational budgets for planned and reactive maintenance within approved limits
  • Manage all aspects of security relating to remote devices
  • Actively engage with internal and external stakeholders of Coliban Water
  • Providing general support for stakeholders in training, fault support, and assisting with specification of requirements for new or changed needs
  • Working with the Water and Sewer Planning Teams to optimise the data collection for the temporary monitoring program required for network augmentation modelling.

What we are looking for

  • Cert IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electronics/IT/Instrumentation and/or direct industry experience with current SCADA systems and instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Information Technology networks and associated infrastructure
  • Experience with ClearSCADA and CitectSCADA software platforms highly desirable.
  • Experience working with data loggers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively consult and negotiate with staff, customers and external organisations to achieve win/win outcomes.
  • Experience with the adaptation of new technolgies into existing business functions or teams
  • A current Victorian Driver Licence. 

Salary

The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2017 Band 3 $68,549 - $75,891 Salary will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their skills and experience.
