About the role:

As a key component of the Community Safety Statement, as well as the Royal Commission into Family Violence, specialist intelligence support is being increased to support frontline Police and investigators in particular. Family violence has been identified as a critical issue and major contributor to harm in the community. Intelligence analysts assigned to the Family Violence Command Taskforce will be responsible for identifying repeat family violence perpetrators and preparing intelligence products to support active investigations. In addition to this, practitioners will identify and report on emerging issues and trends in line with the Command's priorities, assist investigators with developing avenues of enquiry and support decision making processes.

Your duties will include:

  • Interrogation of a range of systems to collect and analyse information;
  • Deliver intelligence and information relating to perpetrators of family violence and identified trends;
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate information gathering and exchange;
  • Prepare high quality intelligence products to inform stakeholders of risks and trends to influence decision making processes;
  • Maintain and develop a strong knowledge base to drive the intelligence process as well as enhance the understanding of the family violence theme.
  • Support current criminal investigations through close working relationships and liaison with investigators.
  • Provide time sensitive intelligence relevant to high risk and dynamic Family Violence crime investigations.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Sound conceptual, critical thinking and analytical skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to develop skills to effectively interrogate systems used for information gathering;
  • Ability to respond to changing requirements and priorities, and to adapt to unpredictable circumstances;
  • Ability to work within a high paced and frequently changing work environment;
  • Ability to work closely with investigators and be exposed to high impact data and materials.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) FTE 1.0 Ongoing Available.
  • One (1) FTE 1.0 Fixed Term Until 8/01/2022 Available.
  • The position is located at the Victoria Police Centre. 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
