ICU Clinical Research Nurse

An opportunity exists for an experienced Nurse to join, learn and develop within the Intensive Care Unit Research team at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. The successful applicant will work with a dynamic, motivated team in the Intensive Care Research Department in collaboration with other research staff to ensure the highest standard of care is delivered to all patients involved in clinical trials.

The ICU Research Department provides 24/7 cover. The successful applicant would be required in time to be available for the on call roster service once trained and established.

Your new role:

  • Coordinate and facilitate research studies within the department including recruitment, data collection and reporting for a number of single-centre and multi-centre clinical trials.

  • Ensure clinical, staff and research governance is maintained in adherence to legislative requirements of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Note for Guidance on Good Clinical Practice (CPMP/ICH/135/95), the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research, and applicable state/federal privacy laws.

  • Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including nursing staff, clinicians, management staff, Melbourne Health Office for Research, pharmaceutical companies, support services, Health & Safety and Risk Management.

  • Act as a support, educator and point of escalation to junior research staff and clinical staff as appropriate.

About you:

  • You are a Registered Nurse with a post-graduate critical care qualification and a minimum of two years critical care experience.

  • You have well-developed IT and data management skills.

  • You are a dynamic and enthusiastic person with good communication skills and a desire to join a very progressive and evolving ICU research team.

  • You are able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
