The Internal Communications and Events Adviser coordinates and delivers innovative, high-quality, and effective communications activities (including written materials) to promote the government's priorities and the department's objectives.

The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements, and undertake a wide variety of work across the division.

Strategic Communications and Marketing Branch

We actively promote the Victorian Government's role in growing our state's economy, creating jobs for Victorians, building thriving places and regions and supporting an inclusive and fairer society.   

Through connecting with staff, communities, business/industry and stakeholders to build awareness, inform, educate and/or change behaviour we deliver the Government's projects, initiatives and commitments.

The Branch provides the following communications and marketing services:

  • Digital and social channels 
  • Digital strategy and governance

The key accountabilities for this role will include:

  • Assist with the delivery of strategic communications functions for the department, providing comprehensive high-quality services including professional writing and editing, publications management, and reputational risks and issues management, working within departmental messaging frameworks.
  • Assist with the delivery of a comprehensive communications strategy through effective communication with employees based in the CBD, regional and international offices.
  • Plan, methodically organise, deliver and evaluate innovative and high-quality internal and external stakeholder engagements for the department on time and within budget, which meet corporate objectives and client expectations, and comply with whole-of-Victorian Government events, protocol, communications and media guidelines.
  • Provide tactical advice to the Internal Communications Manager and Director Internal Communications and internal clients, as relevant on strategic communications and stakeholder engagement opportunities and progress, protocol matters, and reputational risks and issues. Assist in the timely and successful delivery of events where required.
  • Procure and manage contractual arrangements with external professional services suppliers, ensuring compliance with department and government procurement and legal guidelines, value-for-money, effective delivery of services, and that contractual obligations are met.
  • Implement departmental communications policies, processes and procedures, in alignment with government communications and media guidelines, and monitor to ensure consistent application and compliance across the department.
