An exciting opportuniy has arisen for a qulaified Hindi/Urud/Pubjanbi interprerter to join our Lanuage Services Team. Our Language Services department is responsible for providing interpreting services to women using any service provided by the Women’s.

Your contribution 

This position is responsible for providing interpreting services to women using any service provided by the Women’s.  Furthermore, the position involves participating in the development of services for women of culturally and linguistically diverse CALD backgrounds as a team member and in consultation with RWH clinics and departments of the Women’s if required.

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Interpret in NAATI certified language(s)

  • Translate brief messages (non-clinical) and/or check translations if required.

  • Data collection of all bookings and entering statistics accordingly

  • Keep up-to-date with The Women’s intranet and email correspondence and information

  • Provide assistance with administrative work if required

  • Participation in own professional development activities

  • Participation in administrative support duties within a team

  • Assist in supervision of student placements

About you

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

  • Appropriate Tertiary Qualification /NAATI Interpreter certification (previously Level 3).  Alternatively, Provisional Interpreter Certification level (previously Level 2) if appropriate for that language

  • Competent computer literacy including use of a PC, mouse, keyboard, standard Microsoft office software’

  • Demonstrated experience in health interpreting and understanding of health contexts

  • Extensive experience in women’s health interpreting is desirable

  • Knowledge of  another language other than the main LOTE language is desirable
