Service Victoria has just delivered its initial three-year program, which included establishing the new agency and delivering a digital services platform of contemporary cloud-based infrastructure, technical architecture and scalable and reusable common capabilities, with real-time integration into agency legacy systems. The Information Security team provides direction and guidance to all areas of the organisation for the protection and secure management of information and information systems used and developed within Service Victoria.

The opportunity

The Information Security team provides direction and guidance to all areas of the organisation for the protection and secure management of information and information systems used and developed within Service Victoria. 

 

What an IT Security Analyst at Service Victoria does: 

  • Sitting within the IT Department and reporting to the Head of Information Security & Assurance, you will work across all of Service Victoria's digital platforms and technical areas in a fast-paced, customer obsessed, technology focused environment. 

  • You'll contribute to the establishment and continual improvement of the various IT security and broader IT processes to ensure security is embedded from the start and continues to operate effectively. 

  • You'll work on improving the IT security posture of Service Victoria by identifying areas for improvement and working with stakeholders to expand the scope and depth of security practices. 

  • You'll work with our service providers to ensure service delivery is effective and meeting security objectives. 

  • You'll work with the IT architecture and Engineering teams to ensure delivery practices are secure and compliant. 

  • You'll promote security and privacy best practices across project teams. 

  • Participate in approval processes for access management and change management. 

  • Perform validation of IT processes to ensure security risks and compliance are maintained. 

  • Triage security alerts and advisories and engage with stakeholders for remediation. 

  • Occasionally deputise for the Head of Information Security & Assurance in forums and meetings. 

 

On your first day you'll have: 

  • Extensive experience in IT security operations processes including incident response, security monitoring, vulnerability management, access management and change management 

  • Strong experience in security threat analysis and security risk management 

  • Solid knowledge and practical experience using a wide variety of security tools for anti-malware, vulnerability management, security monitoring, access management 

  • Experience with security and privacy frameworks such as the Victorian Protective Data Security Framework, Victorian Information Privacy Principles and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards 

  • Experience with cloud based IT platforms such as Microsoft O365, Azure, AWS and  Salesforce 

  • Familiarity with Microsoft and AWS security controls and tools such as Microsoft Cloud Application Security, AWS Config, AWS CloudTrail, AWS GuardDuty, etc 

  • Familiarity with IT security tools such as Tenable.io, Splunk or Trend Micro platforms. 

  • Good understanding of Information Technology practices such as networking, asset management, application development 

  • Tertiary qualifications in IT and IT security certifications held, such as CISSP, CISM or CISA, will be highly regarded 

  • Excellent communication, influencing and coaching skills with the ability to explain complex ideas and solve problems are essential 

  • A well-developed sense of empathy for your customers, both internal and external.
