About us

The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) hears and decides civil and administrative legal cases. Established in 1998, it is the busiest tribunal in Australia. VCAT finalises more than 85,000 cases a year, mostly disputes, at over 46 venues across Victoria.

About the role

The Java Developer role is within IT business as usual team. You will work with other developers and application support staff. The role works closely with the relevant internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and design a solution. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to changes and enhancements across a range of VCAT's business applications including web apps, portals and legacy case management solutions.

About you

You'll be a seasoned full stack developer, proficient in modern application development and designing effective and efficient solutions.

You'll enjoy working in a small, self-organising, collaborative team environment and can build strong and trusted relationships with your team.

While we are striving towards working in the latest build and release technologies, you will be flexible working with legacy systems and older technologies and code bases. You'll be motivated to continuously improve design and release practices and enjoy the role of mentoring and helping others.
