About us

Beechworth Correctional Centre is located within the Hume Region, in North East Victoria approximately 300km from Melbourne. The region provides services at Justice Service Centres in Wangaratta, Wodonga, Shepparton and Seymour and at two prisons, the minimum-security Beechworth Correctional Centre and H.M. Prison Dhurringile.

Corporate Services is responsible for providing the region with a range of corporate support functions including human resources, finance and procurement, planning and reporting, administration and workforce development. Justice Officers operate from all sites across the region.

About the role

The Justice Officer provides accurate and timely administrative and support services to regional locations and staff.

Client services may include responding to over the counter enquiries, providing information and assistance with matters relating to the Department of Justice and Community Safety (“the department”) portfolios, reception duties, coordinating schedules for program areas and delivery of services for prisoners.

Administrative duties may include reception, financial, mail, basic correspondence, human resource duties, fleet and facility duties, maintenance of a range of electronic information and filing systems.

A Justice Officer may be required to cover for planned or unplanned absences across any of the work locations in the Hume Region. This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2020.

About you

The role has a strong focus on service delivery to clients, internal and external stakeholders and the public. As our successful candidate, you will have:

  • Ability to assist clients to navigate the linkages between the department's range of services.
  • Ability to proactively identify client needs, and provide options and referrals where appropriate.
  • Experience in managing reception duties.
  • Previous administration experience (desirable).
