About Us

The Metropolitan Remand Centre is a 954-bed maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice and Community Safety.

About the Role

As the Justice Officer – Stores and Canteen, you will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring and liaising with customers, administrators, and prison staff on relevant issues
  • Assisting in serving prisoners in the Prisoner's Shop, organising and maintaining special spends and updating prisoner records on SPEND and ARUNTA systems
  • Preparing stock estimates, obtaining quotes, organising purchases to maintain stock levels for the Prisoner's Shop and Prison Stores
  • Undertaking regular stock-takes, maintaining accurate records and maintaining the shop in good order.

This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.

Please note there are two (2) fixed term, full time positions for 12 months available.

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Well-developed computer literacy
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations
  • Understanding of store and warehousing operations including associated stock management, delivery / service requirements and OH&S practices.

Keys to your success will be your highly developed communication, problem solving, organising and planning skills, including the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
