The Kindergarten Improvement Advisor works in the Early Childhood Improvement Branch to supports early childhood services in the Southern Melbourne Area. The branch has multiple responsibilities, including supporting services with kindergarten programs and the delivery of School Readiness Funding and Three-Year-Old Kindergarten.


An exciting opportunity exists for a highly collaborative professional to join the Southern Melbourne Early Childhood Improvement Branch. This role will support Victorian Government funded kindergarten providers to implement some of the most significant early childhood reforms the state of Victoria has ever seen.

The main purpose of this role is to advise, support and build the capacity of funded kindergarten services to continuously improve service quality, particularly through the implementation of school readiness funding and subsidised Three-Year-Old Kindergarten. The Kindergarten Improvement Advisor will collaborate with funded kindergarten services to choose evidence based strategies to ensure School Readiness Funding is directed towards priority outcomes.

The Kindergarten Improvement Advisor will need to draw on past experience and knowledge in an early learning context, administration of early childhood services and curriculum delivery. To be successful in this role you should have excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, analytical skills, and possess a strong understanding of quality pedagogical practices. You will play a lead role in improving the quality of early learning experiences for educationally disadvantaged children.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree Education - Early Childhood
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in early childhood or other clearly relevant and transferrable knowledge and skills
