Opportunity to join the Child Protection team based in Melbourne in the role of Lawyer.

About the role:
We are seeking an experienced lawyer to join the Child Protection team based in Melbourne. The Child Protection sub program provides specialised legal advice and representation to children, young persons and their families, particularly in the Family Division of the Children's Court in order to protect the rights of children and families at risk.

You will provide high quality legal services, including legal representation and advice to legally aided clients appearing in child protection and intervention order matters in the Children's Court of Victoria.

About you:
You will have considerable knowledge and practical experience in the application of the Children, Youth & Families Act 2005, child protection law, the law of evidence and sound knowledge of court procedures. You will have demonstrated advocacy skills and demonstrated experience in making quick, accurate decisions while under pressure.

You will have the capacity to work collaboratively within a team and adapt quickly to changing work environments and priorities. Crucial to your success in this role will be your high level interpersonal and negotiation skills. You will have the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with children, their parents and other relevant organisations.
