About the Team 

The DoT Legal team provides legal, legislative, commercial and policy advice and support to the Secretary, the Transport Executive and the Department in the achievement of the transport system vision, objectives and decision-making principles.

About the Opportunity 

  • Provide advice on a wide range of legal issues, relating to commercial and operational matters, including development and delivery of transport projects, network integration and planning, major project interfaces, public private partnerships, franchising arrangements, alliance contract arrangements, property, construction etc
  • Draft and review a range of legal documentation, develop precedents and negotiations
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with relevant stakeholders to support delivery of objectives
  • Undertake research and analysis preparing reports, briefs and correspondence relating to transport operations legal/policy issues
  • Identify and escalate as necessary potential legal risk, support implementation of risk mitigation strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to identify processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal; identify critical activities review and adjust as required

About You

  • Demonstrate experience providing legal advice on legal issues in the transport context relating to commercial and operational matters, development and delivery of transport projects, network integration/planning, major project interfaces, public private partnerships, franchising arrangements, alliance contract arrangements, property, construction, intellectual property
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assist in the management of strategies for legal matters and deliver robust and viable solutions
  • Ability to liaise effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues, managers and stakeholders
  • Established communication, organisation and negotiation skills and able to work to tight and conflicting deadlines
  • Enthusiasm and demonstrated capacity for sustained effort and high standards
