Exciting opportunities available to join our Indictable Crime team in the position of Lawyer.
About the role:
We are seeking experienced criminal lawyers to join the Indictable Crime team based in Melbourne.
You will conduct complex indictable casework and provide legal information and advice services to persons charged with indictable offences. Other duties you may be required to undertake include attending prisons to provide information and advice to those in custody and providing pre-interview advice to people about to be interviewed and charged by the police.
The roles available include 1 x ongoing, 1 x 12 months and 1 x 9 months maximum term.
About you:
You will have sound knowledge and experience as a legal practitioner with a thorough understanding of the criminal law jurisdiction and court procedures especially with indictable matters. You will have experience in advocating for clients with diverse and complex issues and the ability to identify client's needs beyond their immediate legal issue.
Crucial to your success in this role will be your excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of clients. You will also demonstrate your commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders for the benefit of our clients and the community more broadly.
